TRI 101: How to Taper plus bonus Ride/Spin

Special Saturday Ride & Tri 101!
- Join Coach Vince on an outdoor ride (indoor spin if it rains)
Meet between at 1:00-1:15pm for social time and review of cycling route. Ride for 90-120 minutes depending on the group, then back to the house to clean-up (yes, showers available) for Coach Hilary’s Tri 101! - Join Coach Hilary on ATC’s TRI 101 workshop on How to Taper!
As you close in on a goal event, maintaining a typical weekly overload and recovery schedule isn’t ideal to achieve an athlete’s potential on race day. You need to sharpen the body’s ability to perform – you need to taper!
The taper is the controlled decrease in training load required to bring an athlete to that pinnacle of a focused mind, and a body that has shed all fatigue and is fresh to go. This is race readiness; if it were just a matter of reducing the workouts volumes and/or intensities it would all be so simple! Getting to that point is as much an art as well as science.
