Introduction to Lake Swimming

We will be once again be returning to Whonnock Lake for our fourth season of “Introduction To Lake Swimming” practices.

These are mainly for folks who are new to the sport and want to become comfortable and confident in lake swims. These are not swim stroke correction sessions, nor are they for experienced triathletes who want to swim faster.

To participate in these sessions you should:

  1. Be able to swim for ten minutes non-stop already (this is not a “learn to swim” clinic)
  2. Have a clean bill of health from your Doctor
  3. Own a wetsuit (of course you have goggles)
  4. Preferably have a cold water swim cap – you can get one (neoprene) from MEC
  5. Be registered in a triathlon that involves swimming in a lake (or ocean).

Bonus workout for experienced lake swimmer – come at 4:30pm for your own open water swim led by Coach Kevin across the lake and back (approx. 1500m).
