  • Run Workout

    This week only - Tuesday Tear-It-Up Track and Trail Runs is at Rotary Stadium on Tuesday evenings from 4:45 – 6:00pm. We meet on the “covered stand” side of the track (look for our ATC signs). An ATC coach will be present every week to lead you through a track workout. You will learn about and practice pacing and speed work. These sessions are fun, informative, and leveled so that every member, regardless of ability, is challenged to meet the goals of their running practice.

    A special TRI 101 announcement - TRI 101: Off-road triathlons presented by Roy McBeth!
    Although there are many of parallels between road triathlons, off-road triathlons are distinguished from conventional triathlons in that the terrain for the cycling and running stages are generally unpaved, rough, and hilly. They require different techniques than conventional triathlon races, and in particular the athletes employ mountain bikes rather than road bikes. Not only are they fun, but the grit and strength required can be very rewarding! All are welcome so bring your friends, your enemies and your frenemies! Hang out with ATC afterwards and we promise to talk about more than just triathlons ;).

    Roy has competed in MTB events for over 15 years and Xterra events for the last 8 years with events in Canmore, Whistler, Victoria, Las Vegas, Washington, Saipan, Guam plus the Xterra Worlds 3x in Maui. Come join ATC at Mission Springs, on Wednesday, March 29 at 7:30pm as Roy shares the what he has learned along his amazing off-road journey!

    Mikey is carpooling any members who want to ride together to the Wilds Of Chilliwack: Our new member and coach Paul Filippi is leading us on a VedderVenture along a dyke and therefore flat. Start time is 8:00am out of consideration for anyone driving. So excited to do a new route I've never done in my life!!! I love dyke runs. THANKS PAUL!!!!!

    ATC is proud to present the 2017 Spring Swim Clinic, April 4 - May 4!

    When: 7:00am-8:00am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 4 – May 4, 2017
    Where: Abbotsford Recreation Centre
    Why: The ATC swim clinic is perfect for all abilities, especially beginners, with a special focus on triathlon-styled swimming!
    Our qualified coaches will help newbies become comfortable in the water. For those with more experience, instruction will focus on stoke improvement and efficiency, techniques for breathing, curing cross-overs, improving body roll, rhythm, timing and general feel for the water.

  • Swim Workout

    Mission Leisure Centre 7650 Grand Street, Mission, BC, Canada

    Friday Morning Drop-In Swim: This is a “coach present” swim session with weekly workouts of 3 levels of difficulty supplied for you to follow, tailored for intermediate to experienced swimmers. Click on the menu Training > Swim Workouts to view detailed information for individual workouts.

    Join fellow triathletes and swimmers at the Abbotsford Recreation Center from 5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Friday mornings. Participants should be able to swim at least 100 m in the pool without stopping. Regular pool admission fees apply. Coach tips to help you develop your technique/body position/breathing and stroke efficiently are provided upon request.

  • Saturday Spin with Coach Vince

    Saturday Spin: This coached program comes with membership and is designed for all levels. Athletes focus on cycling skills and aerobic threshold training in preparation for outdoor sessions that follow in April. Bring your bike, trainer, sweat towel, water and nutrition! Members will often turn this workout into a brick with a short (20-30 minute) run afterwards.

  • TRI 101: How to Taper plus bonus Ride/Spin

    As you close in on a goal event, maintaining a typical weekly overload and recovery schedule isn’t ideal to achieve an athlete’s potential on race day. You need to sharpen the body’s ability to perform - you need to taper!

    The taper is the controlled decrease in training load required to bring an athlete to that pinnacle of a focused mind, and a body that has shed all fatigue and is fresh to go. This is race readiness; if it were just a matter of reducing the workouts volumes and/or intensities it would all be so simple! Getting to that point is as much an art as well as science.
